形态描述：根状茎近直立，直径2-3厘米，肉质，有肉质粗壮而光滑的长根，除顶端略有鳞片外，余均光滑。叶簇生，叶柄长40-60厘米或较长，粗约2.5毫米，上面通体有宽沟槽，绿色，草质，中央稍下处有节状膨大，有相当多的鳞片，尤以向基部为甚，鳞片狭披针形，棕色或深棕色，质薄，宿存；叶片长等于叶柄，宽约17厘米，卵形，一回羽状，羽片2-4对，顶端一枚同形而较大，有时长达30厘米，宽达6.5厘米，侧生羽片互生，斜出，彼此分开约5-6厘米，有柄，基部一对稍短，长12-15厘米。宽约3厘米，上面一对长约17-20厘米，中部最宽处约4-5厘米，阔披针形，缓渐尖头，基部楔形，向下渐变狭，羽柄长约1厘米，膨大，有鳞片，干后变黑色，叶边全缘或略为波状，但向顶部有短尖头的锯齿。叶脉细而疏生，大约1厘米内有4条，极为开展，两面明显，大都分叉，但也往往分叉脉与单脉相，向顶部变尖细而向上弯弓，几达于叶边。叶草质，干后绿色，两面光滑，惟叶下面的中肋有棕色狭披针形鳞片疏生。孢子囊羣线形，通直，长10-20毫米，被等宽的间隙分开，由60-160个孢子囊组成，位于中肋与叶边之间，有细而红褐色的节状分叉夹丝密生，长过于孢子囊羣。
