形态描述：灌木或乔木，高2-5米；树干常弯曲；树皮灰褐色，几平滑，有细小的裂纹；枝有明显的叶痕。叶倒卵形至倒卵状矩圆形，长4-7厘米，宽2-3 (-4)厘米，顶端圆形或微凹，基部楔形，边缘骨质，干燥后反卷，中脉在两面凸起，侧脉不明显；叶柄略粗壮，长1-3厘米；托叶披针形，长1-1.5厘米。聚伞花序腋生，具总花梗，长2-2.5厘米，分枝，有花2-4 (-10)朵；花小，盛开时长5-7毫米；花萼裂片小，革质，花时直，果时外反或扩展；花瓣白色，短于萼，顶端有3或2枚微小的棒状附属体；雄蕊长短相间，短于花萼裂片。果实圆锥状卵形，长1-1.5厘米，基部直径0.7-1厘米；胚轴长15-30厘米，中部以上略粗大。花期秋冬季，果期冬季。
