形态描述：水生飘浮草本。有长而悬垂的根多数，须根羽状，密集。叶簇生成莲座状，叶片常因发育阶段不同而形异：倒三角形、倒卵形、扇形，以至倒卵状长楔形，长1.3-10厘米，宽1.5-6厘米，先端截头状或浑圆，基部厚，二面被毛，基部尤为浓密；叶脉扇状伸展，背面明显隆起成折皱状。佛焰苞白色，长约0.5-1.2厘米，外被茸毛。花期5-11月。
[危害状况]水田作物。
国内分布：云南、福建、台湾、广东、广西；栽培于山东、安徽、江苏、江西、湖南、湖北、四川
