形态描述：块根通常纺锤状，长达30厘米。茎常具少数分枝，攀援状，下部木质化，分枝表面具纵槽。叶对生或轮生，极少兼有互生，卵状披针形、卵形或宽卵形，长6-24厘米，宽（2）5-17厘米，顶端渐尖至短尖，基部心形，边缘稍波状，纸质或薄革质；叶柄长3-10厘米。花单生或2-3朵排成总状花序，生于叶腋或偶而贴生于叶柄上，花柄或花序柄长2.5-5（-12）厘米；苞片小，披针形，长5-10毫米；花被片黄绿色带紫色脉纹，长3.5-7.5厘米，宽7-10毫米，顶端渐尖，内轮比外轮稍宽，具7-10脉；雄蕊紫红色，短于或几等长于花被；花丝粗短，长约5毫米；花药长1.4厘米，其顶端具短钻状附属物；药隔肥厚，向上延伸为长钻状或披针形的附属物；子房小，卵形，花柱近无。蒴果光滑，具多数种子。花期4-7月，果期（5-）7-8月。
